Today we celebrate International Men’s Day, an annual international event inaugurated in 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago.
Men make sacrifices in their workplaces, in their homes, for their friends, for their communities and their nation. This Day provides an opportunity for people of goodwill appreciate and rejoice over the men in their lives and recognize the contribution, they render to their society; and an occasion for men to celebrate their achievements and contributions to community, family, marriage, and child care.
November 19 happens to be a significant date as it interfaces with Universal Children’s Day on November 20 with which IMD forms a 48-hour celebration of men and children, and of the special relationships, they share with each other.
Today the world focuses on health of men and boys, ways to improve relations with women, promote gender equality, highlight positive male role models, the ability to sacrifice ones needs for the benefit of others so fundamental to manhood akin to honour etc.
Cheers to all men of all ages!
